What a welcome from Lois, we arrived to a big smile and a tray of tea, with a proper teapot and chocolate biscuits brought to our room. I don't usually like pre-order breakfast, but seeing our favourite soft boiled eggs and soldiers on the menu was a no-brainer. Breakfast was lovely, a cafetiere of fresh coffee and a plentiful selection of cereal. We had our eggs and soldiers, with a side of yummy bacon, then enjoyed a bowl of fresh fruit salad - no tinned produce all fresh: mango, pineapple, strawberries, apple, grapes and blueberries. Great nights sleep, lovely peaceful area.

absolute gem to call it a b+B doesn't do it justice Lois was waiting to greet me on arrival I was on a motorbike and she let me park it under the arch out of the weather she very quickly got me booked in and gave me advice as to were to go locally the room was spotless and quiet with a very comfortable bed and a superb shower I travel a lot for cycling and running events so I find a good bed and shower are top of my list of priorities, breakfast was perfect with plenty of choice the only thing that was wrong was that I could only stay the one night but I'll definitely be back.

Happy from the moment we parked in front of Shaftoe's Bridge, went inside and were immediately offered tea, coffee and biscuits. Incredible welcome and friendly, attentive service. Haydon Bridge village is so beautiful - this B&B sits next to the river with easy access to several pubs/eating places within walking distance. Very comfortable bedrooms with thoughtful amenities (only equalled in our London accommodation), sparkling clean, great showers, personal touches abound throughout the property. We loved it and hope to return.

What DIDN'T I like...? Lois and David were so gracious! There were all kinds of little goodies: cold water in the fridge for the taking, a nother fridge just for our food, a snug with an aquarium for chatting, games and puzzles, darling little handmade things for sale, lovely perks in the room, loads of info, etc. Wonderful, strong, hot shower. Excellent location for Hadrian's Wall and the Roman forts/museum. And the FOOD! Wonderful choices, cooked to order and luscious! You could not do better in lovely Haydon Bridge.

This was the second visit and won’t be the last. The owners were helpful and took time to chat with the guests over breakfast which has an amazingly varied choice. Even a local eatery admitted that the breakfast at Shaftoes was exceptionally good. The rooms were large as was the bathroom. Both were very clean. Nice little touches. Disposable slippers. Choice of coffee, tea, hot chocolate and sweets in the room. Welcome coffee or tea with biscuits.
